EPA Brownfields Grant

Henry County is considering applying for the EPA Brownfields grant to assess commercial properties for possible contamination.  A Brownfield site is defined as: “real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, contaminants, controlled substances, petroleum or petroleum products, or a mine-scarred land.”

While Henry County considers applying for the EPA Brownfields grant, the New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (NC-EDC) is inviting feedback from the community. The NC-EDC is looking for sites that could be considered if Henry County moves forward and applies for the grant. The site would be assessed for pollutants, contaminants, hazardous materials, petroleum, and/or controlled substances. The NC-EDC is also inviting feedback from the community.
