Groundbreaking Begins on Ashbury Fields, a New Housing Development in New Castle, Indiana

Henry County, Indiana, welcomed its third housing development at the groundbreaking of Ashbury Fields. This new neighborhood is located on the north side of New Castle and boasts easy access to State Road 3.

Positive anticipation filled the air on August 8 as the groundbreaking ceremony began at 211 E County Rd 200 N. Local business owners, members of city and county government, real estate professionals, and other community members gathered to support and welcome the new addition to the community. All expressed their excitement about the continued growth of the community.

“Housing is a critical need for the region as communities like Henry County continue to grow. We’re excited to see this project continue to improve the quality of life for current and future residents,” said Caitlin Hancock, Interim CEO of Forge East Central Indiana. “This project is a transformative step in our growth.”

Tucked just beyond New Castle’s town center, Ashbury Fields offers a unique blend of convenience and countryside calm. Close to schools, dining, shopping, and major roadways, yet surrounded by open skies and green space, it provides a retreat-like atmosphere. Designed in partnership with Hallmark Homes, Ashbury Fields blends modern living with timeless community values, offering new opportunities for individuals and families in East Central Indiana.

“We’re excited that we are able to offer affordable and attainable housing in Henry County,” said Scott Noel of Hallmark Homes. “This will serve as a great opportunity for both current and future residents as they come into the community. We’re ready to sell today. This is a huge investment in the community.”

Ashbury Fields residents can enjoy the peaceful charm of New Castle along with easy access to Indiana’s most vibrant urban centers. In under an hour, residents can explore downtown Indianapolis or conveniently catch a flight at Indianapolis International Airport.

The neighborhood supports an active, connected lifestyle with neighboring parks, walking trails, recreational areas, a growing list of local eateries and retailers, and quality schools. Community events, plenty of green space, proximity to Memorial Park, and New Castle’s flourishing downtown help foster a sense of connection and pride.

New Castle itself is a city on the rise. With steady economic growth, expanding cultural attractions, a flourishing downtown, and a focus on sustainable development, the region is attracting families, professionals, and creatives alike. Ashbury Fields is part of that momentum. Henry County is a place where people can grow, belong, and feel at home.

As construction begins, Ashbury Fields represents more than just a new neighborhood. It signals continued growth, renewed investment, and a shared vision for the future of New Castle.

“The New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is proud to support this project and the people who will call New Castle home,” shared Corey Murphy, EDC President. “This project is a testament to the power of partnerships. It couldn’t have happened without the collaboration of our entire community, from bringing in water and amenities to securing funding. We are grateful for the support of our funding partners, including the Henry County government, READI funds, and the Indiana Finance Authority. Together, we are making this vision a reality.”
