Bringing 85 new homes to the community.
City leaders, developers, and community partners gathered on Sept. 12 to break ground on Brookfield Farms, an 85-home residential development designed to expand affordable housing opportunities in New Castle.
The project represents a significant investment in the local housing market, underscoring the city’s commitment to growing as a place where families can thrive.
“This is about more than shovels in the ground. It’s about creating opportunities for families to call New Castle home,” said Scott Adams, Director of Real Estate for DC Develop and lead project manager for Brookfield Farms. “At a time when home ownership is becoming more difficult to achieve, the city of New Castle, Henry County, and the State of Indiana stepped forward with the vision, the commitment, and the resources needed to make affordable housing possible here – and for that we are all blessed and thankful.”
Brookfield Farms will be zoned R2 and offer residential lots with a minimum lot size of 6,000 square feet. Ryan Homes, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, will play a leading role in constructing the new homes.
The project is the result of collaboration between DC Develop, the City of New Castle, Henry County, Forge East Central Indiana, Knobstone Development Group, Inc., Frost Brown Todd, Schutte Excavating, and the New Castle Henry County Economic Development Corporation.
Local leadership was instrumental in moving the project forward.
“Look no further than Mayor Greg York and Corey Murphy, who were steadfast in their leadership and guidance to us throughout the process,” Adams said. “Their vision and commitment make New Castle not just a basketball town, but a community where businesses want to grow and families want to live.”
Mayor York echoed the excitement, emphasizing that Brookfield Farms is a step toward a stronger future for New Castle.
“We’re proud to welcome 85 new homes into our community,” he said. “This project represents the kind of growth and opportunity we want to see for families who choose to make New Castle their home.”
The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction at 2000 Washington Street, with work set to begin immediately. Brookfield Farms is expected to strengthen the community’s housing stock, attract new families, and further solidify New Castle’s reputation as a place of both tradition and progress.
